Reception to Honor Lt. Gen. Samuel V. Wilson

Please Join the Moton Museum Board of Directors
At a Reception to Honor Lt. Gen. Samuel V. Wilson
For His Commitment to Positive Race Relations In Prince Edward County

Saturday, April 26, 2003
6:00pm - 8:00pm
Robert R. Moton Museum
900 Griffin Boulevard, Farmville, Virginia

Lt. Gen. Samuel V. Wilson served as a member of the Moton Museum Board of Directors from 1997 to 2002. During his term as Board President, the Museum officially opened in 2001 with a program commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the Moton student walkout. The Museum also submitted a successful application for a $400,000 Save America's Treasures Grant from the Department of the Interior. In addition to his work with the Museum, as President of Hampden-Sydney College, General Wilson was a driving force behind the symposium "Prince Edward Stories: Race, Schools, America," which received wide public acclaim.

This special event is also a major fundraising event for the Museum. All contributions, which are tax deductible, will be matched dollar for dollar by the Department of the Interior under the Save America's Treasures Grant. If you are unable to join us, please send us your support, which will go toward preservation of this historic building. We also invite you to send a letter in honor of General Wilson. These letters will be bound and presented to him at this event.
