Hon. Cynthia E. Hudson, Chief Deputy Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Virginia will to serve as keynote speaker for the Moton Community Banquet 2019.
Cynthia Hudson is currently Chief Deputy Attorney General of Virginia. Appointed to that post in January, 2014, Ms. Hudson is responsible for managing the daily legal operations of the Virginia Office of the Attorney General in its service as the Department of Law for the state of Virginia, and for ensuring the provision of quality and timely legal services for the Office of the Governor, all state executive branch departments, agencies, entities, and officials.
Ms. Hudson previously served eight years as city attorney for the City of Hampton, Virginia, where she guided the work of the city’s law office and risk management office in providing legal counsel, representation and claims management for the Hampton city council, the city administration, and related public entities. Prior to her appointment as city attorney, Hudson had been a deputy city attorney for Hampton with responsibility for civil litigation generally, and employment law matters in particular.
Ms. Hudson’s spent her early law career in private practice in the labor and employment law litigation section of McGuireWoods, LLP in Richmond, Virginia. She has served also as Director of Personnel Policy and Programs for the Virginia Department of Personnel and Training.
A native of Nottoway County, Virginia and a product of its public school system, Ms. Hudson received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and her law degree from the College of William and Mary, where has been an adjunct law faculty member teaching state and local government law.
